Mycoplasma bovis outbreaks in United States bison (Bison bison) herds: A case-control survey

Share:
Martin et al (2025) presented a case-control survey of Mycoplasma bovis outbreaks in bison. “As stated previously, the median herd size for affected herds was 980 animals (IQR: 500–2200) as compared to unaffected herds which had a median herd size of 98 animals (IQR: 50–250). An odds ratio (OR) of 1.02 (95 % CI 1.008–1.07) indicates a 2 % increase in the probability of M. bovis infection for each additional animal within a herd. Extrapolating this risk implies that for every 100 animals, there is a 2-fold increase in the odds of an M. bovis outbreak.”
