Community Development Exploring the Crisis: Factors Affecting Large Animal Veterinary Services In Northern Ontario’s Rural Regions

Share:
Huq et al. described: "This crisis is fueled by a shortage of veterinary professionals and clinics in rural and remote areas, as most practitioners are concentrated in urban centers. Moreover, the large distance between farms and the long travel time make the crisis more severe in rural areas. Besides, the trend of rising pet ownership during the COVID-19 pandemic has led veterinary professionals to prioritize companion animal care, which leaves livestock producers in Northern Ontario facing ongoing challenges in accessing timely and adequate veterinary services."
