Saskatchewan Tick Surveillance 2019

Share:
A small number of blacklegged ticks have been found over past years of passive sampling, but no reproducing populations of ticks have been detected in any areas of the province despite several years of active sampling. This means that, at present, there are no known Lyme disease risk areas in the province. However, the possibility of blacklegged ticks being dropped by migrating birds exists across the province, and approximately 13 percent of these ticks are infected with the bacteria that causes Lyme disease.
