PAHO/WHO warned about circulating WEE virus in South America on Dec 19, 2023 with an update on Jan 10, 2024. In this epidemiological update dated Feb 8, 2024, there are multiple outbreaks in horses and confirmed cases in humans. As of Feb 5, 2024, there were 1,419 outbreaks in horses in Argentina, 1.018 in Uruguay and 1 in Brazil.
